Vladislav Petrachev is Principal Trombone of the Columbus Symphony Orchestra and the Chautauqua Symphony Orchestra.
Prior to his appointments in the United States, Petrachev was Principal Trombone of the Mikhailovsky Theatre in Saint Petersburg, Russia. He has also performed with numerous distinguished orchestras including the Mariinsky Theatre Orchestra, Saint Petersburg Philharmonic Orchestra, Cincinnati Symphony Orchestra, Princeton Symphony Orchestra, and Saint Petersburg State Symphony Orchestra. He has performed extensively throughout Europe, Asia, and North America. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with conductors including Charles Dutoit, Valery Gergiev, Yuri Temirkanov, Cristian Măcelaru, Marin Alsop, Ion Marin, Louis Langrée, and Rossen Milanov.
As a soloist, Petrachev gave the Russian premiere of Ricardo Mollá’s Concerto for Two Trombones and Orchestra in 2018. An active educator, he has been invited to present masterclasses and clinics at The Ohio State University and Texas A&M University–Kingsville. He previously served as Graduate Assistant at Southern Illinois University, Teaching Assistant at the University of Kentucky, and Adjunct Professor of Low Brass at Kentucky State University.
Petrachev holds degrees from the Saint Petersburg Rimsky-Korsakov College of Music and the Saint Petersburg State Conservatory. He continued his graduate studies in the United States at Southern Illinois University and the University of Kentucky.
