Russell Gill


Double bassist, Russell Gill earned his Bachelor of Music degree from the Eastman School of Music and played for the Syracuse Symphony immediately upon graduation. He has been a member of the Columbus Symphony since 1978. Gill considers himself more of a piano teacher than a bass teacher, with five piano students currently in his studio. Russell is a marathon runner, having run in 35 consecutive Boston Marathons and 98 marathons in total. Since 1982, he has personally raised over $451,000 for the Arthritis Foundation, Multiple Sclerosis, Leukemia/Lymphoma and Cystic Fibrosis. He has a personal goal to climb a million stairs for Cystic Fibrosis – he is up to 908,821 so far!
