Olev Viro


Olev L. Viro joined the Columbus Symphony Orchestra as a full-time violinist in 1984 and is active as a violinist, conductor and teacher. Currently part time with the CSO, Olev also performs regularly with Pro Musica Chamber Orchestra and the New Albany Symphony. Olev has been on the faculty of Capital, Otterbein and Denison Universities. Mr. Viro has been Music Director of the Greater Columbus Community Orchestra since the Fall of 1999 and has premiered and commissioned numerous works. Olev was a Visiting Conductor at Denison University and is a member of the International Eduard Tubin Society. Olev previously created the Sonus Artis project, presenting musical programs and outreach in Ohio and Estonia collaborating with universities, churches, schools, arts organizations and other private and public institutions. Mr. Viro has a Bachelor of Arts from Harpur College, SUNY Binghamton, and a Master of Music from the New England Conservatory of Music. Olev is a partner at International Risk Consultants, Inc. where he brokers Trade Credit and Political Risk Insurance since 2008.
