Krisztina Szabó’s 2013-14 season includes Handel’s Solomon with Les Violons du Roy; Messiah with the Grand Philharmonic Choir and Kitchener-Waterloo Symphony; Donna Elvira in Don Giovanni in a return to Vancouver Opera; Ljubica in Ana Sokolovic’s Svabda/Wedding in her Opera Philadelphia debut; in Janáček’s The Diary of One Who Disappeared in the “Soundings” series at Nasher Sculpture Center, Dallas (TX); and as soloist in a Mozart evening with the Ottawa Choral Society. Recent highlights include Giulietta/Stella in Les contes d’Hoffmann (Edmonton Opera); Adams’ El Niño (Vancouver Bach Choir); Messiah (Calgary Philharmonic, also Baltimore Symphony Orchestra); Bach’s Mass in B Minor (Atlanta Symphony Orchestra, also Chicago’s Music of the Baroque); Musetta in La bohème and Sesto in La clemenza di Tito (Vancouver Opera); St. John Passion and Dido in Dido and Aeneas (Music of the Baroque); Beethoven’s Missa Solemnis (Toronto Mendelssohn Choir); a new work by Chris Paul Harmon (Queen of Puddings Music Theatre); Le Pèlerin in L’Amour de loin, Idamante in Idomeneo and Dorabella in Così fan tutte (Canadian Opera Company); Cherubino in Le nozze di Figaro (Stadttheater Klagenfurt); Mahler’s Lieder eines fahrenden Gesellen (Talisker Players); Susanna in The Ghosts of Versailles and Rosalind in The Mines of Sulphur (Wexford Festival Opera); Rosina in Il barbiere di Siviglia (Calgary Opera); Dorabella in Così fan tutte (Mostly Mozart Festival); St. Matthew Passion (Brooklyn Academy of Music); and Nerone in Agrippina (L’Opéra de Montréal). Other successes include soloist in Mozart’s Mass in C Minor (Royal Scottish National Orchestra); and Ruggiero in Alcina and Haydn’s Arianna a Naxos (Les Violons du Roy under Bernard Labadie). Her 2014-15 season engagements currently include a return to Canadian Opera Company as The Woman in Schoenberg’s Erwartung.
