Violinist David Niwa’s extensive performance career has included feature appearances with the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Columbus Symphony, and the Curtis Institute of Music Symphony Orchestra. He has been featured in recital at the Sunday at Central series as well as at the Corcoran Gallery of Art, Terrace Theatre at The Kennedy Center, Cloitre des Jacobins, Landgraf, and numerous functions for the Polish Arts Club of Chicago. Since 1990, he has been featured regularly as soloist with the New York Symphonic Ensemble throughout Japan and Southeast Asia.
Mr. Niwa joined the Columbus Symphony Orchestra as Assistant Concertmaster in 1995. He has served on the faculties of Ohio Wesleyan University and Denison University. David is the Artistic Director for the prestigious Sunday at Central recital series in Columbus as well as the Roycroft Chamber Music Festival in East Aurora, NY. He holds degrees from the Curtis Institute of Music and The Juilliard School, where his teachers were Aaron Rosand and Szymon Goldberg respectively, and enjoys cooking and eating, golfing, skiing, and playing tennis.
