Andrew Millat
Principal Trombone
Andy Millat brings a wealth of experience and energy to his role as Principal Trombone of the Columbus Symphony, where he can be heard in classical concerts at the Ohio Theatre and in Picnic with the Pops concerts on the lawn of the Columbus Commons. He is equally at home in a brass quintet, in front of students for masterclasses, and in solo recital. Andy’s teaching resume includes successes with students of all ages with most of his teaching in recent years occurring at the collegiate level, including adjunct positions at Cedarville University and Ohio University. His formal education includes degrees from the University of Cincinnati and the University of Northern Colorado.
Andy was born and raised in Dayton, OH, and he is former Principal Trombone of the Dayton Philharmonic Orchestra. He also served for six years as an enlisted professional musician in the United States Air Force Academy Band. He lives with his wife, Bette (a painter), in Plain City, OH, and in his spare time he enjoys gardening and beekeeping.
