From the terrifying Dies irae\, with its swirling strings and thunderous bass drum (a favorite of the Ohio State University Marching Band)\, to the achingly beautiful Lacrimosa and the whispered opening that rises from near silence\, the Requiem blends theatricality with profound reflection.
