Songs of Hope, Comfort and Love
The Columbus Symphony Chamber Chorus, under the direction of chorus master Ronald Jenkins, will present a program of 20th and 21st century choral music entitled, “Songs of Hope, Comfort and Love.” The chorus will be joined in the program by the New World Singers, Jeanne Wohlgamuth, director.
The first half of the concert, Duruflé Requiem, will be presented in memory of the founders of the Symphony Chorus in 1960: Evan Whallon, Wilbur Walters, Gertrude Kuehefuhs, Donna Harper, and Tom McCullough.
For the Requiem the chorus will be joined by organist Kevin Jones, well-know recitalist and Minister of Music at First Congregational Church and four solo instrumentalists from the Columbus Symphony Orchestra.
This performance will mark the 50th anniversary of its performance in Columbus, also at First Congregational Church, directed by the com- poser, Maurice Duruflé with his wife, Marie-Madeleine Duruflé- Chevalier, as organist.
