COLUMBUS SYMPHONY YOUTH ORCHESTRAS
The Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestras is committed to supporting the lives of young musicians and their families through professional and enriching rehearsals and performances. We are here to serve and inspire the passionate music-makers of central Ohio and elevate our community through musical excellence and innovation.
The Columbus Symphony Youth Orchestras celebrated their 69th season in 2023-2024. Established in 1955, the Youth Orchestras program has expanded to include four ensembles. Of the four ensembles that make up the CSYO, two are strings-only ensembles: Junior Strings and Chamber Strings; and two are full symphonic orchestra ensembles: Repertory Orchestra and Youth Orchestra. Auditions for all ensembles are held annually in late April and May.
As part of the CSYO program, members and families enjoy quality musical experiences that develop and engage their musical and leadership skills. These experiences benefit the lives of these young musicians for years to come. Some of these experiences include:
- Free Tickets to Columbus Symphony Orchestra Masterworks performances
- Rehearsal and Performances in Columbus Association for the Performing Arts Theater Venues
- Access to direct interaction and instruction from Columbus Symphony Orchestra musicians during the rehearsal sessions
- Access to free, online, music education seminars led by career professionals during our Youth Orchestras Online series. This series is conducted through partnership with Cincinnati Symphony Youth Orchestra and Atlanta Symphony Youth Symphony.
