Young People's Concerts

Each year, thousands of students throughout the greater Columbus area participate in the Columbus Symphony’s Young People’s Concerts. Concerts are programmed at the Ohio Theatre and are thematically based and grade appropriate. Pre-concert materials are provided for teachers and students based on the Ohio Academic content standards. All seats are $5 and include pre-concert materials for students and lesson guide for teachers. Rhythm is a universal element of music. Composers and musicians play with elements of musical time, creating patterns of sound and silence that are expressive and exciting. Through the Link Up repertoire, students explore rhythm, pulse, and groove as listeners, composers, and performers of music.

What music is on your favorite listening device? The orchestra will perform some gems of the classical music repertoire to inspire students’ own playlist of classical music.

Performance will include a performance by the Lois H. Allen Concerto Prize winner of the Columbus Symphony's 2020 Young Musicians Competition.
