Last Notes Festival

Rossen Milanov, conductor
Anthony Marwood, violin
Steve Mackey, electric guitar

Program:
Mozart: Overture to Die Zauberflöte (The Magic Flute)
Mackey: Four Iconoclastic Episodes
Tchaikovsky: Symphony No. 6 in B Minor, Op. 74 (“Pathétique”)

As part of the Last Notes Festival, the CSO performs the majestic final works of Tchaikovsky and Mozart. In Tchaikovsky’s haunting and turbulent Sixth Symphony, he draws us into a compelling struggle between hope and despair. The mercurial overture to Mozart’s last opera shares the first half of the program with a captivating work by the renowned American composer Steven Mackey, who’s won international acclaim with his skillful integration of classical and such popular styles as rock and blues.
